Lawrie Burton
Lawrie is a multi-genre DJ and beat-maker specializing in Hip-hop, Funk and electronic music. Hailing from Leeds, he goes by producer and DJ alias ‘Sangria Kong’ and has produced beats for UK Hip-hop artists Bisk, Jack Jetson, Luso, The Northaze, Sleazy F and Defenders of Style.
Starting DJing in 2014, playing his first gigs at weekly in-house events ‘Funk Soul Nation’, ‘Boogaloo’ and ‘Sunday Joint’ at the HiFi club in Leeds, and later in 2017 being selected as a DJ resident at monthly Hip-hop night ‘No Miracles’ at The Jazz Café (Camden, London)
More recently, this year playing gigs at Belgrave, Headrow House, Cosmic Slop (Leeds), Outlook Festival UK 2022, The List Festival 2021/2022 and for Leeds Street Gallery and Tracks magazines events. Lawrie also has a bi-monthly radio show on Leeds’ own Sable Radio.
Achieving a 1st class honours degree in music production in 2020 from Leeds College of Music, Lawrie continues to make and release music with Leeds label ‘Skipclass Records’ established in 2012. He actively DJs, performs and works within the community to support creative music making and performance.
